Nicole Parlett
Behavioral Neuroscience student at Northeastern University, Class of 2028
I'm a Behavioral Neuroscience student at Northeastern University, drawn to the level where molecular detail and behavior meet. Most of what interests me sits in that gap: how the composition of a single cell scales up into something an organism actually does.
My research has moved from wet-lab molecular biology toward computational approaches. I spent a year doing C. elegans genetics in the Cram Lab, building a foundation in cloning, PCR, and careful protocol work, and I'm currently on co-op at the Broad Institute in the Macosko Lab working on spatial transcriptomics and single-cell analysis methods.
Outside the lab, I help other undergraduates find research positions through the Undergraduate Research Club and work on science communication with COSSDAC (College of Science Student Diversity Advisory Council). I'm planning to apply to PhD programs in neurodegeneration.
